Guess what happened to my basement? 😦 A pipe burst yesterday morning… Now I’m a proud owner of a giant puddle. The good news is that the damage was fairly minimal, and only one box in our storage room got destroyed, since it was right underneath the pipe. It wasn’t in the “lab” part of the basement, but it’s a good reminder that basements are far from perfect (even though they might be better than garages when it comes to picking a lab location).
It’s also a good thing that there are no pipes going through my lab room. None that I know of, anyway. 
(And the only way to find out would be to discover a nice puddle of chemicals on the floor haha). As Robert Heinlein said, “You live and learn. Or you don’t live long.”
